Was he criminally charged before? I thought the thing a while ago was him getting sued by Project Veritas for spending all their money pursuing a career in musical theater.

" best visualized as a vicious, lazy, profoundly ignorant, perpetually hungry organism craving the warm god-flesh of the anointed. Personally I like to imagine something the size of a baby hippo, the color of a week-old boiled potato, that lives by itself, in the dark, in a double-wide on the outskirts of Topeka. It’s covered with eyes and it sweats constantly. The sweat runs into those eyes and makes them sting. It has no mouth, Laney, no genitals, and can only express its mute extremes of murderous rage and infantile desire by changing the channels on a universal remote. Or by voting in presidential elections"

Best bit:

Charles P Pierce, a writer for Esquire, said “There is not a single sentence in this paragraph that doesn’t disqualify this guy from being president of the United States.”

In this episode, Jack is honoured to be joined by special guest Teddy Wilson of the excellent substack Radical Reports. (Links below.) Teddy has been closely studying the US far-right, including the sinister political pressure group that calls itself Moms for Liberty, one of the prime movers in the current reactionary cultural counter-revolution going on in America. Teddy tells Jack all about it, going into detail about M4L’s aims, methods, and connections. He also tells Jack about the interactive visualisation tool he’s created at Radical Reports for tracking M4L, their activities and interactions with other people and groups on the right. Topics covered include M4L’s links to the Republican Party including DeSantis in Florida, their ideological censorship movement to expunge school libraries of anything they don’t like, their links to the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, etc. Fascinating (if ominous) stuff.

The morning of the protest, the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office said it was aware that “attendees will be open carrying firearms during this event as supported by the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution,” and that they were taking “the necessary measures to help ensure that these individuals are able to express their rights peacefully.” After it concluded, the sheriff’s office announced that there had been “no incidents to report,” and that it would “have no further comment” about the event.

Sounds like one of those “Constitutional Sheriffs” assholes who think that they get to interpret what the Constitution “really” means, and act accordingly. By his interpretation, this was just “protected free speech,” although I suspect if these were Black men wiht guns, there would be a very different response.
