A Louisiana judge blames her apparent racism on sedatives

Why in hell is she allowed to pass judgement on accused in her courtroom wile she’s sedated? I’m not allowed to drive, cycle or many other less impactful procedures while sedated. Working as a judge requires proper judgement, not being stoned!

If I’m reading this right the recording didn’t take place in her courtroom:

Even so, as others have said “I wasn’t mentally alert” isn’t much of an excuse. It would be like if an accused Nazi spy said “sure, I was babbling about military secrets in perfect German… but that’s only because I was talking in my sleep!”

Why are we not just calling this “The Roseanne Barr defence”?

This is a judge, so I’m immediately suspicious that a call to police about an “armed” black guy was done knowingly. Basically a call to come execute someone rather than a call to come subdue someone.

Really, if only Big Pharma could come up with an anti-racism, anti-fascism, anti-sexism vaccine.

But of course, the downside would be getting people to actually take it. :man_shrugging:

To cross-topic from the bell hooks thread, that vaccine already exists: it’s called love.
