I’d argue that those conflicts have escalated a long time ago. They are fought with think tanks and weapons of mass media. However I have no doubt that a Trump administration (that’s how we usually call it, right? Administration…) will have no scruples to sanction use of yet more unconventional weaponry against their designated targets.
