A favorite passage!
Personally I don’t give a damn if the Cavendish banana is wiped out. I know some people like them, even in Hawaii, but I think that just shows lack of taste. Apple bananas, such as we mostly get here, are absurdly more flavorful.

That might explain why the one time I bought red bananas they didn’t taste very good. I didn’t realize they were cooking bananas. They tasted underripe. I may not have been the only one who didn’t like them. The store never stocked them again, which is disappointing. I always like to see variety in the produce section.
