A Round Up of Resistance to Trump (Part 1)

I put that here because I think of Antifa as resistance to, basically, Trumpism. My apologies if it’s a problem because that resistance isn’t solely focused on Trump himself.

Yep; I’ve got my fingers crossed for her.

Read the whole thread to understand why I put this in this topic.

Right on.

CA’s 2018 primary is tomorrow; watch out muthafuckers, here I come.

That para is precisely why I chose resistance. Yes, the thread starts out with the dark material, but it’s important. People need to wake up and realise that slapping on a hat and putting up a poster aren’t enough, not anymore.

But that closer is what brings it here. The fact that it is as bad as it is, is precisely the reason not to give up. Voting may not be enough, but not voting sends a clear message that nobody cares enough to even try.

It bears reposting.

Yes; shit is bad… and that’s exactly why we mustn’t just ‘give up the ghost.’

I’ve talked before about ‘not being an easy win’ and “going down swinging;” that applies to this fight as well.

Sick burn! Isn’t that what the kids today would call it?

Okay, resistance is the wrong word here.
But sometimes a diversion can be useful.

He’d just be another Trump, I think. He’s kind of nuts and the fact that he’s a crypto-libertarian would double the crazy. The other I heard today was that the head of Starbucks (who just stepped down) might run. Can we end it with CEOs and business men running for office?

Given the very real problems that we have in this country and world, we need people who want to make some serious changes to our system in a way that actually benefits us, not give more away to corporations or make our government run more like a corporation. I don’t know about you, but I’m kind of sick of the side show and am ready for something constructive.

A thread listing potentially good Congressfolk:

I like that NYC candidate, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whose progressive platform includes the phrase Us Against Money.

That sounds promising. I’ll look him up.

Also, I’m quite excited about Stacy Abrams here in GA. I know it’s an uphill climb for her, but she’s awesome.

Fingers crossed for your state; cross yours for mine.

"Democratic State Rep. Lauren Arthur easily defeated Republican Rep. Kevin Corlew by a double-digit margin in the race to fill Missouri’s 17th District Senate seat. The district, just north of Kansas City, voted for Trump in 2016 by a nearly five-point margin, a fraction of his overall win in the state by 19 points. "

My thinking was that you’d need a couple of candidates like him in order to split up the demographic I like to call ‘the crazy asshole vote’ and divert it from Spanky. Divide and conquer, basically.
And given how far down the rabbit hole we are at this moment, I could see McAfee as an improvement compared with Spanky. Not that this was in any way desireable - it just shows how fucked up things are right now.
