the Trump administration — I never say just Trump, because he’s not by himself — has violated everything that Jesus said ought to be the first priority of nations. That is, to care for the poor, care for the least of these. And so it grieves me that brothers and sisters who claim to follow Jesus would do this and would be so loud on things that Jesus is so quiet about and so quiet on the very thing Jesus is so loud about.

Absolutely and unequivocally.
My thought was that as with corporately appropriated journalism’s systemic resistance to using racist to describe genocidal racists, so too we’re seeing the same bullshit regarding LGTBQ+ reporting. The reporters might want to say what they mean, but the shareholder capitalists put the chokehold on meaning what is said.

Tennessee prosecutors said Friday they’ll take a fresh look at the work of a detective who, as a Baptist pastor, allegedly delivered homophobic sermons.
Knox County Sheriff’s Det. Grayson Fritts said during a sermon last weekend that gay people are “freaks” and “reprobates” who are “worthy of death” and should be tried and executed by the government, according to NBC affiliate WBIR in Knoxville.
Yeah, a review is probably a good idea. (Although, is any of this really a surprise to them, or something they’re forced to do now that he’s hit the fan?)

Statistically some of the reporters are among the continuum of the targeted demographic. Consequently at least some of the Style Guide bigotry is not about the journalists but the serfdom of late-stage capitalism.

I was thinking more the Knox County Sheriff’s Department and the 6th Judicial District. During his 19 years on the force, did no one have the slightest inkling that this guy’s homicidal homophobia might be a problem?
Even if he’s only felt safe to be loudly open about his views in recent years (Thanks Trump!), I doubt this is a sudden revelation to them. This review is probably more of a Cover Their Asses Legal and PR problem exercise than any kind of remedial effort to solve the deep-rooted problem.
