A Round Up of Resistance to Trump (Part 1)

I’m reminded of this piece from Jamelle Bouie, shortly after Trump’s election:

I understand fully that people want to hear something optimistic. I mentioned my abiding beliefs in American politics, and one of those beliefs is that the American belief in a kind of teleology of progress is wrong. And it’s wrong, maybe not from the perspective of White Americans, but from the perspective of Black ones, who have seen their lives in this country defined as fits and starts. Difficult painful fits towards a semblance of equality and progress, followed by furious backlashes. And if you root your analysis of America in the experiences of its Black population, what you see, I think, is that there is no guarantee that anything will ever get better. None at all. And, looking forward from today, I think we would do ourselves a disservice to imagine that it’s just going to get better. It isn’t necessarily going to get better. And the time horizon for which it may get better may not be ten years, it may not be twenty years, it may be the rest of our lifetimes.

BTW, related to the “Trump tweets should be censored by Twitter for promoting violence” discussion:

Lefties have been mass-reporting the tweets of the US military’s propaganda accounts for “promoting violence” for years.

The standard response from Twitter is that government agencies are exempt from such restrictions.
