A round up of Trumpian events 🖕🍊🤡

Indeed.

It’s a very unpleasant picture that is revealing itself.

Even now, faced with straightforward evidence that the Trump administration is steering hard towards prison camps and pogroms, I still find it hard to credit.

Faith dies a hard, bitter death.

Dammmn…

Thread.

I think, at first, at least, they’d hide the actual murders, but then again, with this admin, who fucking knows?

I’d expect them to first go for “work off their debt”.

Cotton doesn’t pick itself. The red state farm owners are already complaining of labor shortages.

8 USC § 1101(a)(3)

The term “alien” means any person not a citizen or national of the United States.

Except of course that brings you round to this:

That is $279,000 PER YEAR. FOR EACH PERSON. EACH. FUCKING. PERSON.

Sounds like an excellent argument for not throwing people in prison for trivial victimless stuff like smoking marijuana.

Volume 12 – Citizenship & Naturalization, Part L – Revocation of Naturalization
Chapter 1 – Purpose and Background
[…]
A person’s naturalization can be revoked either by civil proceeding or pursuant to a criminal conviction.

The USCIS links you posted confirm my piecemeal impression that if you arrived in this country under your own power, you stay here on the sufferance of the authorities, regardless of what your papers say.

As soon as the world looks away from what’s going on at the border, the Trump administration will quietly redouble its efforts. The Justice Department will try to gut the Flores Settlement. Children separated from their parents will not be returned; they will disappear into a byzantine maze of tent cities and regulations. More people will be arrested. They will disappear too.

Or such is my fear at any rate. From the thread linked by @MalevolentPixy:

Let’s do everything in our power to realize the former, because the latter has to be unthinkable.

If this isn’t a true-to-life metaphor for the situation we’re in now, I don’t know what is.
