But, why was she even there in the first place? Did her nebulous job involve managing diplomatic crises? Was she on the NSC? Did she have top security clearance?

Yes, itā€™s insane that she felt it prudent to casually record conversations there, but I canā€™t even fathom why she was even there in the first place.
