This is so incredibly fucked, and absolutely always what was going to be the case. I lived in TX for years, and the degree to which power has become canalized in the power of rich white pricks is disturbing.
If everyone else wants to avoid being Texas, get out there right now and volunteer with VoteRiders, or contact representatives for vulnerable people in your community to help them get voter IDs and rides to the polls.
But the modest crowds that showed up for the noontime rallies from New Jersey to Georgia to Colorado offered a reminder of what liberal groups learned eight years ago in the face of Tea Party anger at President Barack Obama: Stoking grass-roots energy is often easier for the outraged resistance than for the party pulling the levers in Washington.
First thought: Of course it’s Obama. How devious of him to hide among the very racially diverse group of staffers now working at the White House and go unrecognized for weeks (in a place where his picture is on the wall!) as he leaks that information!
And those pictures of him on a boat halfway around the world with Richard Branson: a genius misdirect. Well played, Obama. Well played.
He knows it’s true because he heard himself say it on Fox
For decades now the Republican Party has been nominating people who were suspected (or later known) to be brain-damaged:
Gerald Ford
Ronald Reagan
Dan Quayle (for VP)
W Bush
Sarah Palin (for VP)
But Trump is even more impaired than he appeared before the election. He’s not faking it to win votes from idiots. It’s not performance art. He repeats the same phrases over and over regardless of what’s being discussed. He has no idea what’s going on around him.
