Maybe Iām cynical, but in a world where lack of empathy is common and concern about consent is low, fear of consequences is better than nothing. Hell, has there been an entire year of severe consequences? Nope. Still seeing lots of stats about a whole lot of nothing happening to most perpetrators of these crimes. Yet, here we are with people acting like #MeToo is over. Wow.
The idea that grown men must still be taught to keep their impulses in check and not harass or assault other people bugs me for two reasons. First, at that age thereās probably a lot of things that need to be unlearned - which involves a willingness to change. Second, exactly whose job will it be to teach these assholes?

Unbefuckinglievable. Sure he gets a 7 year sentence but most of it served on remand (as in not yet guilty and possibly atoning or learning) and that length must be part of why the charge was downgraded from rape.

I know the above is in NI (different state and all but very nearby) but added to the ongoing revelations that the GardaĆ werenāt ANSWERING domestic violence calls and how domestic murder of women has now overtaken gangland violence in Ireland shit like this makes you get sick.
This is someone dealing with serious cases, not some district judge (or magistrate in NI) but supposedly a real judge.
