A thread of our own- misogyny (Part 1)

It’s always the woman’s fault.
It seems our only acceptable roles are servant in the home, wh0re in the bedroom, arm candy and doting partner if we’re out in the world “with our man,” and invisible wraith if we’re out there without a man. And broodmare.
And even then, they find a way to blame us when men attack. I’m so fucking tired.

Fuck you, CNN, for taking what is a serious issue and scattering stupid jokes throughout the article:

It’s okay! It can’t be misogynistic, since a woman wrote it… /bitter s

See what’s funny about your reply is that I pointed the article out to one of my male colleagues, who said almost exactly that. “Well, I guess, but it was written by a woman.”

If you must ask about his daughter, ask what position she’d play on the team. What she’s most excited about on the day. Hell, ask if she’s proud of her dad. To ask if she’s allowed to date a damn player on the team, the youngest of whom is 22 years old—a 17-year age gap and a felony in every state in this country—is abhorrent.

Boom. Right here.

Also, he was way calmer about the question that I thought he’d be. The reporter should have been removed from the room.

Like didn’t he have the habit of hitting on girls young enough to be his granddaughter when he was a judge on American Idol???

As enraging and sickening this story is, I’ll be very glad to see negative consequences for rapists who brag about their crimes and profit from that. Hopefully more states will enable victims from past cases to seek justice. For anyone still wondering why members of the GOP fight so hard to allow child marriage, the quotes in this article should make it clear. :rage:

“ What’s doubly worrying is that this survey was done in 2021, before the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision. It’s not difficult to imagine how much worse these numbers will be now that we’ve added forced childbirth into the mix. A recent study from the University of Pennsylvania, for example, found that abortion restrictions cause a “significant increase” in the suicide rate among women of reproductive age. That research, too, was done before we lost Roe .

America is not even nominally prepared for just how bad this is going to get.”
