A thread of our own- misogyny (Part 1)

I thought it had to do with the Pope being against condoms for the AIDS crisis in Africa until fairly recently.

That, or “know nothing pop singer doesn’t like religion”.

It was so easy to crush a message back in those days, even if the message was given in an outwardly shocking way.

Okay, now I feel old.

When John Paul II was pope, I had a graduate degree.

Wow, they really don’t understand, do they? It would be sadly funny if they weren’t so damned evil.

Definitely my way of fighting back against that would be to say, every time they bring it up, “There goes Hensley talking about menstruation again. He brings it up every conversation. It’s like all he does is walk around all day thinking about blood coming out of vaginas. It’s creepy.”

What the… I can’t even. Dear Tennessee lawmakers as one pasty white male to another you are being beyond creepy there. My thoughts about those products pretty much begins and ends at a situational do you need some right now and should I go get them for you? Beyond that not my business other than y’all should have easy access to them.

The tampon cop is also a drug dealer? Busy guy.

  • Sen. Joey Hensley is accused of prescribing controlled substances to family members.
  • Hensley allegedly wrote prescriptions for an employee with whom he had a “personal relationship.”

A conservative state senator who is also a small-town doctor has been accused by state medical officials of prescribing controlled substances to his family members and an employee with whom he was in a “personal relationship.”

Sen. Joey Hensley, R-Hohenwald, is accused of writing the unethical prescriptions between December 2014 and March 2015.

The Tennessee Department of Health charged Hensley before the Board of Medical Examiners in June, but the case was not made public until now, when charging documents were released in response to a Tennessean public records request.

The charges may affect Hensley’s medical license but they are not criminal allegations.

Soooooo many of us have been raised to think all of his actions, not even necessarily short of the destruction of the ring, are normal, romantic and sweet. Our stories have internalized us to accept stalking behaviour as romantic and that time spent in a new relationship is all that’s needed to undo the wounds of the old.

The truth, of course, is that most of our storybook romances are abusive as shit. Kind of like this creep.

Also misogyny: the fact that so many people are willing to say that because a woman didn’t think sufficiently enough about a man’s comfort that she deserves to be violently assaulted.

Fuck. That. Shit.
