I know I’ve mentioned this before, but in the “Illuminati” card game, most groups have an alignment of some sort, and many alignments are opposed to groups with the opposite alignments. Conservative groups oppose Liberal groups, Straight groups oppose Weird groups, Corporate groups oppose Government groups. But every Fanatic group is opposed to every other Fanatic group.
Fanatics just don’t play well together. They can never match each other’s fanatic purity.
