I just wrote a “snot song”.
“if you’re two knuckles deep looking for buried treasure”
“No need to go any further”
“you’ll tear your nose off and that’s nose murder”
Kinda snappy tune that lifts the spirits…
But it turns out kids probably should, since introducing respiratory pathogens to the lymph nodes in the throat is an important part of building immune response in children.
(Sorry, not sure how that ended up a response to you, @Mindysan33 )
“I like the snot life, I like booger on the disco flooooooor”
The kids are alright.
But they’re not supposed to pick their noses!
These, “I know you’re going to do it, it’s natural and you’re not gross, but all things in moderation and in the appropriate setting” parenting challenges can be tough. “Abstinence Only” certainly seems as destined for failure in this case as it has been in others…
You can pick your nose and you can pick your friends but you can’t wipe your friends under the couch.
Wow, my mom didn’t get that memo. After watching her break my brothers of that habit, I never started.
The headline is wrong once again. The whole video is about nose bleeds. The last few seconds he said it’s OK to pick your nose gently just not too aggressively.
Why do gorillas have big nostrils?
Big fingers.
Now do elephants.
I came to post the same thing. You totally ninja’ed me.
Where do I start?
First of all, Dr Schnoz in the video states around 11 min in that it makes sense to pick your nose to get dried collected pathogens out (etc). So I’m not buying the whole ‘probably shouldn’t’ narrative. As if that’s actually going to get any traction anyway. Because picking my nose can be occasionally quite satisfying. Because it’s disgusting and fascinating when my body makes disgusting things on its own. Because humans are basically disgusting walking factories for goop.
Second of all not everyone eats boogs. I do not. I think I did maybe once as a kid just to try it. It’s never appealed to me, nor makes sense. I could write a dissertation on why one makes sense and the other doesn’t. As for the former, I can pick my nose like a f#%ing champion.
I especially appreciate Dr Schnoz saying ‘it’s part of being human’. Indeed.
