Anti-Susan Collins site raises $2 million and crashes during her Kavanaugh 'yes' speech

Not certain about that. Manchin switched when it became clear it would not be the deciding vote. At that point he was saving some votes, and maybe hiscseat for the dems. Pointless political suicide and handing a potential seat to the repubs would not be logical. This fight is over, it is now all about midterms. I have heard several talking heads saying that whoever wins this battle may lose the midterm war. I can only pray it is so.

Green?
I can’t imagine there are too many people out there thinking, well, the Republicans have lost their minds. Guess I’ll vote for the Greens.

I saw that story on Facebook. It had lots of likes.

I don’t know about that. There were some Berniebros who wound up voting for Trump as a “protest vote.” Maybe voting Green as an FU to the Republican party would work along those lines. And probably be just as effective…

actually I thought he was quite sincerely embarrassed by his situation.

I also don’t see the Republicans being masterful here. Its somewhere between “we are going to do whatever we want and we believe our own conspiracy theory” and “I’m an old white guy and I really don’t see any harm to Ford by not believing her, but my bro there, he’s been through hell”.

I think they are exactly what they appear to be - clueless, misogynistic, and very powerful.

On the other hand I don’t believe that this is going to play well for them. Yes, they are huffing around because they have “won”, but in truth they have failed at a colossal scale. I think they were willing to do that because it ensured a legacy in the SC, and it came on top of a fail that was already in place - they will do poorly in the coming election.

Its our job to scream to the rooftops the obvious lies and counter testimony from those not interviewed by the FBI, and make their treachery as clear and undeniable as possible.

In my world it means I confront the trump faithful with all the lies and contractions and reduce their arguments to “you are stupid”, not to convince them, but to demonstrate for the conservative bystander who may be on the fence. Their arguments are always the same and easy to disprove - Ford is lying, Ford is being paid by Soros, there is no evidence, the Dems have made the political,… - stay rational, put the fear of a lying sexual assaulter on the Supreme Court into their hearts.

No congressperson is going to give a shit about any feedback that doesn’t come with cash money. Or “political speech” or whatever we’re supposed to call money now.

And your reply is why we got saddled with Hillary instead of Bernie, why we lost the election, why we lost the House, why we lost the Senate, why we lost State Governorships and why we will continue to lose elections until the young and the progressive voices in America stop listening to cowards like you and show the world what having a backbone looks like.

Which is something that your precious Democratic party hasn’t shown in decades and evidently no longer even cares about, understands, or even has any bedrock principles upon which to measure itself.

Your transparent trolling is obvious. Here’s a movie you should like.

Notice how Collins started talking like she had doubts about Kavanaugh when news of the war chest against her got out? And then a few days went by, and she reversed course? She got promised money.

But she probably got promised one million. Now there is at least two million against her. THIS is how we can beat these bastards: targeted crowdfunding.

-> There are more than 71 million millennials in the U.S.

Imagine if everyone of them gave a single dollar. Or ten. Not to the DNC. But to a progressive candidate or a new Progressive party.

The news about the big money going to her opponent raised her profile by an order of magnitude. I wouldn’t be surprised if turnout for her is unusually high. She’s going to win big in her next election.

Oh, sure. There is the voice of dauntless bravery. Just wtf are you? Raising millions for her opponent means she is going to win easier? That is complete bullshit. And I think you know it.

I sure hope I’m wrong.

If I were to place a bet on the winner in her race, I’d have a hard time betting against her. I don’t think most people could even name her opponent.

In the U.S., sure. In Maine, I not sure. It’s Maine voters who vote for that Senate race.

At this point the opponent could be the fabled ham sandwich for I care. As long as the person isn’t infected with the disease thats plaguing the current incarnation of the GOP, then that’s good enough for me.

Which ones? I saw one heavily pushed by Judicial Crisis Network that was from a Republican polling company that is known for popping bogus polls right before key votes.

The increase in GOP enthusiasm is quite real, especially on one of the metrics the Dems love to point to: small-dollar donations. Alas, the Dems couldn’t help themselves from breaking their pick on Gorsuch. McConnell would never have gotten Flake/Murkowski/Collins to end the filibuster for BMK.

“The National Republican Congressional Committee’s low-dollar donations over the past week are up 175 percent compared to the same time period the previous month, NRCC communications director Matt Gorman said. He added that the average donation total is up 111 percent, and that the committee has raised 194 percent more overall in the last week, again compared to the same timeframe the month before–all signs of grassroots enthusiasm.”

I didn’t know they made a film about Screaming Lord Sutch

In the 1960s, Sutch stood in parliamentary elections, often as representative of the National Teenage Party.

“A cynical grab for power by the Democrats” is what the voter suppression party would say if this came up for vote.

Hang on, all the reports about surging Republican enthusiasm in that article are from Republicans. Normally I wouldn’t expect them to straight-up lie, bur let’s check their moral compass…
