And not only do “conservatives” vote, but they have a whole interconnected pantheon of creepy-sneaky organizations that guide who they vote for, funded dozens of billionaires.
I don’t see a good way of matching that. George Soros had the right idea of countering it by funding open access to government so that these groups can be tracked and watched.
However… Trump immediately went after access to government information on climate change, and environment. You can bet that they’ll be dumbing-down access to other information as soon as Trump eventually fills all those vacancies.
That’s ridiculous. Her “payment” is that she’ll have employment (be reelected) on 2020. She in no ways requires some payment. She’s a conservative. She wants a Kavanaugh or his like on the SCOTUS. As for her reward for faithful and virtuous conservative service, “open” corruption after she leaves public office – lobbying, board memberships, speaking fees, thinktank salaries, etc. – carries no risk and is equally lucrative.
If people listen to her speech: she’s telling us who she is. No one is twisting her arm.
He’ll probably never have to drive again. (I can’t remember if having a driver is an automatic perk of the job, but I thought I’d seen RBG with one. OTOH, Walter Matthau drove himself in the movie First Monday in October, a wonderful movie that Barfin’ Brett’s elevation has probably rendered unwatchable.)
The problem isn’t that the Democrats responded, it’s that the responded in a way that ultimately benefits the Republicans. For the past 10 (20?) years they have been playing the game according to the rules laid out by the GOP.
The left isn’t able to counter even ridiculous things like whether or not Obama is American.
Democrats have a good story to tell but they never tell it. Bernie Sanders does a better job than most at this but that isn’t saying much. He’s not exactly an inspiring figure.
Collins women’s rights are no longer an issue for her; she’ll never need an abortion, she has a great pension plan, plus medical for life. So what if the men in the Senate don’t respect her? She doesn’t need them.
