They’re worried that they know what they’re doing is illegal and they could have their children taken away, which I’m honestly cool with at this point. It’s not like they’re just trying to cross the border to get somewhere safe. They’re putting lots of people at risk intentionally.

The one silver lining is that most of those kids are pretty clear-headed and angry when they become teens or young adults and start to learn what’s been kept from them.

Yup, that is the nightmare scenario. And the set up is way more common than most would think. Measles sucks, but antivaxxers are so much worse.

Statistically, that story happens to 1:1000 measles cases. That doesnt sound like much until you realize the curent outbreak is at about 1000 cases now. In my world, 1 dead child is 1000 too many, but some seem to think differently.

More and more fun, guys. FUCK. We just had a “known measles” exposure in our local ED. Mom was aware the baby had measles, brought her to the ED and sat in the waiting area for 30 min before seeing the triage nurse. Things happened very quickly after that, but damage was done. Now we wait and see.
