Between Boebert’s and EmptyG’s sputtering outbursts and Ocasio-Cortez and Raskin’s precise slams, this stupid hearing is turning into a major self-own for the Republicans.
Generally known as “whenever a republican opens their mouth” or “day ending in Y”
Aww, it must be really frustrating when the people you’re trying to shame actually do their homework and bring the receipts.
OK, this was fun to watch, too, just like the aforementioned Raskin statement and Porter and the druggers.
In this questioning by AOC, though, I have to question whether Twitter actually changed the policy. It seems that they removed the phrase ‘go back to where you came from’ from an example contained within the policy, but did the policy itself change? Or is it that once the example changed, then that constitutes a change in policy?
This is a very satisfying exchange.
ambiguous guidelines are ambiguous. and ones moderating hate speech will always be open to some interpretation
they had specific examples of what they would not allow, they removed that example to allow the ■■■■■ post. they didn’t change the general guidelines but by removing that one example they were explicitly allowing that language and that post
so, yes, saying they changed their policy is accurate
Facts are irrelevant to these people, unless they support the agenda and the various narratives involved.
Gonna be a long two years… plenty of fuckery & attempted fuckery ahead from these yahoos.
It is a fantasy of mine to imagine that the DOJ is quietly building cases on some of them, re: aiding & abetting the coup… and that we get to see them being frog-marched off to jail.
No bail, since they are obvious flight risks.
Hey, ya gotta have dreams…
Agreed. I’ve never worked for Twitter, but I’ve worked writing policies for huge organizations, and those examples are written as part of the policy-writing process, so changing or removing the examples is a change to the policy as it was originally written.
And in this case, doing it specifically in response to being faced with that example being used is pretty transparent.
I mean, they also just straight up admit it.
I suppose one could debate what constitutes “official policy”, but coming from someone directly involved, it’s pretty irrefutable. It must feel so vindicating to work for such crummy people and then be able to expose them in such a public way.
What no Republicans ever seem to realize is that AOC always does her homework on a subject and generally comes better prepared than her opponents.
