Or geographical.
I noticed that also, along with the mostly western hemisphere of it all. You’d think that something by Edith Piaf would have made the list.

If you think he’s good, just wait "til you meet his mum…
Actually, yeah. I don’t know that song.
I’m really not familiar with any but the most well known Beatles tracks. I’ve strongly disliked the Beatles my whole life.
I understand the point you were making now though.
And Steve Reich would have made recordings with them. He was the tech guy. I seem to recall him saying that Moondog was really anti Semitic so Glass chose not to mention some salient points.
Me too. And I apologize for posting it even ironically.
Friends of ours learned and performed Double Nickels on the Dime (almost) in its entirety in 2018, and we were among the privilged witnesses. More info on the yootoob page. My BF has joined them in a new project of theirs.
Lists suck, for all the reasons cited above and more, including ones created by committee, however creative they may be.
Amazed that no one’s posted a Residents song!
My son is autistic and he’s got a weird sensory thing about the Happy Birthday song, he absolutely can not stand to hear it. He has to leave the room before anyone starts singing it or he will have a meltdown. He’s pretty good about it now if you warn him ahead of time and he’ll just step outside for a minute, but he’s been this way since he was a toddler!
This list should have 2 songs.
True enough.
I wish I could come up with a new “hit” Christmas song-- I’d get a nice check from ASCAP every year.
Is J’attendrai on the list?
Killing Me Softly is on there twice, use that space to include the rest of the world.
I’m not autistic, but I feel the same way. Especially when it’s sung at work. Every birthday at work (pre-Covid) would remind me of that Office Space scene. I just wanted to tear my hair out.
I wonder if any of the steaming music services will make this a play list.
In our high school years, two friends and I started a tradition of doing very silly renditions of that song at our New Year’s Eve parties, at the top of every hour until midnight. I remember sitting in the theater watching Wayne’s World with one of those friends and leaning over to whisper to him that forever after, people would assume we ripped off our little tradition from the movie.
I think it was about ’91 that I found myself arguing about the lyrics to that song with a bunch of strippers in my apartment building’s elevator in the pre-dawn hours. I usually skip the song now days when it comes up in rotation, but yeah, such memories.
Don’t Stop Me Now, on the other hand… whatever I am doing when that song comes on gets done at 190% of available power, for better or for worse.
I wonder if its because its one of the few times that a group of people all starts singing at once, even people who cant sing, so its all off key, uncoordinated and messy.
