Are these the greatest songs of all time?

So, not this then?

Trigger warning: Contains “happy” and “birthday”.

The person who gave me my first hit of acid got me to agree in advance to lie down in the dark and listen to the entire White Album straight through on whatever big ole seventies headphones we had on hand back then.

I believe it was the slow, soft, quiet lullaby I’m Tired that they ended Side A with. And I know with absolute, electric certainty that Side B starts with Birthday, which is just a couple few dB louder than the sweet little lullaby we last heard before someone got up and flipped the album over. I probably looked a bit like Uma Thurman taking the shot to the chest on the dealer’s floor.

Absolutely, and not only that, it’ll likely change every time the question is asked, because the mood at the time can influence choices.
I can’t even list a top ten, just because there’s another couple of hundred that could take their place ten minutes later.

Thanks!

That’s awful.

Ooh I didn’t know about the Peelenium.

A couple of other oldies but goodies in the same vein:

I have an amusing bug in Firefox 92.0 where after playing some YouTube links, switching browser tab and then switching back triggers all the previously watched videos to play at once. Probably the greatest cacophony of Rolling Stone unranked songs ever!

These aren’t even the top 10 ANGLO-AMERICAN songs of all time.
I’m fine with seeing songs like “Stairway to Heaven” and “Imagine” in the top 10. Also, “We are the World” is underrated - it’s clearly the most talent-packed song of all times.

It’s still a maukish, cringy song.
