I don’t blame the cops for looking surprised. Without more background information I’d probably assume someone making such a confession was more likely mentally ill.
From a small town case file:
Dude broke into a house, stole ladies underwear, set the place on fire. Later, he offered to help the fire department direct traffic. They handed him a flare.
Next, he breaks into a second house, steals more underwear and sets that house on fire with the flare. Oh, and left the flare laying nearby.
We need a new word to describe guys like this. Criminal, stupid, and insane all lack the descriptive power these people deserve.
The only thing missing is this sound between the confession & the perp walk.
I guess Billy Joel was right - about the rest of us.
Here’s another Quick Mystery
In your story and the video for this topic the real crime was one of wrong context and scale.
The folks who turned industry-wide mortgage fraud into industry-wide investment fraud did much the same thing: Burned the place down, were completely open about it, and were totally oblivious to why anyone would think it was wrong. They were not led away in handcuffs.
Did you miss the part about the underwear? I mean, come on, tie in the theft of underwear. Don’t leave me guessing.
