The completely unnecessary spiral formatting makes a simple graph seem way more interesting than it is.
It’s unfortunately still big in Ethiopian pop.
And I think I detected its use on an album by Arabic singer Asalah*. Granted, that recording might be 3-5 years old by now, and its use was relativey subtle but IMO her voice is not one that needs (nor deserves) any such modification. Here she is in a somewhat “unplugged” setting:

God I hope not. At least I still cringe when I hear a smooth jazz radio station when shopping so I guess I am not that old yet thank Coltrane.
