Battery leaks or fires will be interesting for sure.

As far as the focus problem, that could be overcome with a transparent grid of laser pixels each aimed at a part of the retina.

Library of congress in a sugar cube-sized device

Maybe not a device, but 20 of these is about a sugar cube in size.

That just perpetuates the ideology.

Nope, no battery in the lens portion. The article says it’s powered wirelessly via induction.

I assume there would be an exciter coil in an eyeglass frame, which is where the batteries would be located. Or it could be mounted inside some cyberpunk-styled jewelry encircling the eye socket; held in place by adhesives or piercings, thin wires leading to a battery behind the ear.

Because let’s face it. If you wear these, you’re a cyborg.

Perhaps better if the implant makes them see themselves as non-white?

Oh god yes. Closed captioning everywhere.

I feel like that definitely would give you conjunctivitis. Or at least a really nasty sty.

I had wondered what augmentation could draw perfectly healthy people into physical disfigurement so that they could have access to whatever that augmentation offers.
