Babymetal, live on Colbert!

I would just like to thank Boing Boing for introducing me to Babymetal a year ago. They have been my favorite band since. Turned me into a freaking fan-boy, damn you!
So much so that I actually flew in to be at this show! it was historic!
And only the Saturday before they became the first Japanese group to headline at Wembley Arena (mind you they were the only act… 2 hour show) and to a sold out show. Completely blew all records of merch sales at a concert there.

If you are watching the video and saying… “I should hate this, right?.. But it’s really good in a really weird way… I’m not sure how I feel about this…” It’s ok… Just come down the Fox hole and hear a little more.

Seriously, check out the new album Metal Resistance and the newest single KARATE

Meh.

Genre mashup? Cool.

Manufactured marketing-driven fake band? Shite.

I was just down there not long ago to see Postmodern Jukebox. They had remodeled since I had seen Jonsi there on his solo tour a few years ago.

I didn’t ask about Babymetal. Made an executive decision not to hit the hornets nest with a stick for no good reason.

I skimmed over the the new BM album yesterday but now I am giving the album a closer listen. KARATE fucking rocks. My over caffeinated legs are rocking the double bass. Oh damn, the next song starts off sounding like Teenage Atari Riot. Nice unexpected surprise. Ok I’m going to get back to work and write some really aggressive code or maybe aggressively write code, yeah that’s it.

I think the start of Awadama Fever is actually sampled from Teenage Atari Riot’s - No Remorse (I want to die)

That Doctorow is so fast and loose with the facts, and never corrects his mistakes? Yeah.

Forget it @art_carnage it’s BoingBoingtown

It’s funny; he seems pretty thorough with his books. Okay. I’ve only read one, but “Information Doesn’t Want to be Free” seemed well thought out and researched. It’s almost like there’s some sort of fundamental difference between a blog and a book or something.

Yes, a blog is very easy to correct. And yet…

I recommend “Makers” or “Little Brother” (and its sequel “Homeland”).

I suspect he writes fast and loose with his posts but people seem to weirdly expect something else on this…blog.

Yet you still read it even though he doesn’t so he knows he has nothing to gain!

I think you found their opening act!

Thanks. I haven’t looked at Doctorow’s YA fiction yet. I probably should. “Information Does not Want to Be Free” was something I dove into due to being a musician, and follower of copyright / patent law.

I ended up asking and playing some of the album last night and she really liked it. So much for assumptions.

My situation is more that she doesn’t like crowds, and loud music primarily. I ask more so she knows what is up with charges on the credit card and hey why are you going out this evening.

My situation is more she knows exactly what I am thinking. :unamused:

My hovercraft is full of eels.

Mine is full of the bags of money from doing speaking gigs for my wall street buddies.

Good for you! I’m happy for your success!
