A better dare is call an Irish accent British. The Republic of Ireland is a part of the British Isles group.
It’s not a good dare in the slightest.
The best episode opener of Craig ever.
that’s literally the formula for all American TV - 1. what is the moral dilemma running through the mass consciousness 2. What are the talking points we want to promote as the consensual ‘norm’
Just a lot harder to be subtle about without any middle ground existing anymore
great. now you’ve got the law and order theme song stuck in my head
So any recommended watching to understand his acting style? Since he won’t be on screen in the blue box for a while, I’d like to see what’s hopping aboard.
I put the blame for the past incarnation’s suckiness squarely on the writer’s shoulders. Jodie acted well but the scripts and stories were garbage. I’m fully hoping that they “alternate dimension” or “it was actually the Master, hahah!” the Timeless Child because it’s just stupid.
Pretty sure politics is not a new topic for the show. Pretty sure the character’s been anti-fascist a long time.
Great choice. I’m super excited for this!
actually, i went and looked - the seasons have been so spare over covid times that flux was the last season, and i’ve seen it already. ( it’s only the specials i’ve missed. )
i thought it was pretty good, definitely a strong adventure – maybe a slightly rushed story line, a couple more episodes couldn’t have hurt. honestly, i can’t think of any episodes in it that felt like they were trying to cram social issues in ahead of the plot.
it’s totally okay ( obviously) that you have a different opinion, i just don’t see it at all.
i just finished that special. who sure does love the rubber costumes. lol
though with russell davies coming back, i fear more for the return of these guys
There was some handwaving at the end of the episode about how the memories were being presented in a format the viewers could relate to
I don’t remember the details except it wasn’t really Earth, it just looked like Earth on our TV sets
Hmmm, does make me idly wonder if this background forms any part of the subconscious rationale for the Who show-runners adapting this modus operandi - seeking wider audiences - (as well as perhaps why some seemed to react so strongly to my critique, if this is what they are used to).
Perhaps it isn’t just a case of
I’m not gonna say this new extra layer of backstory is “stupid,” but I doubt it will make the show better
DW already revealed where the Doctor came from and who her people were—starting over and doing it again, so it’s some other mysterious planet that’s called something else, and some other mysterious species—that’s amusing until the novelty wears off, and after that it’s just redundant
… or maybe the “explanation” will be that the Doctor created herself, and she’ll drop her younger self off at the beginning of Gallifreyan history, and the writers will think it’s all very clever
Desantis complaining about Disney “suddenly” bringing sexuality
into cartoons is a recent example.
I remember being weirded out that Tristan from “All Creatures Great and Small” was the new Doctor, but was still happy to watch it.
Me too, but in a good way.
Exactly. Politics aside, there were a lot of crap scripts.
It’s well known from TV scifi that many alien planets look like Welsh quarries, or Canadian forests. It’s probably the anthropomorphic principal at work or something.
Bits of it maybe, bits of it (including the Dr Who team) clearly lean pretty left. It would be interesting to see if there’s more gammons complaining about the BBC’s ‘left wing bias’ than vice versa, but really the BBC is comprised of to many departments and people to give it’s political leanings a just one label.
Still waiting for a Doctor to put their hand in a cow.
