I haven’t been to a Sonic in ages, but I seem to recall their soft drinks being served with crushed ice or really small ice granules. Would make sense for someone to describe light hail on the ground to look exactly like a discarded drink from the restaurant.

I don’t know, the ‘pea sized hail possible’ in the Special Weather Statement leaves me less confused, assuming Sonic ice is in that vicinity… or maybe we’re up to garbanzo bean sized ice?

Imagine a pinecone as heavy as a bowling ball, and as big as a chihuahua. This giant belongs to the coulter pine! It can be found in California & Mexico. Nicknamed “the widowmaker,” it produces the world’s largest pinecones—which can weigh ~11 lbs (5kg) & plummet to the ground with deadly force!
