oh gosh, i have a friend who rents his bees to some farms in N. California from time to time. i’m sure he’s heard about this, but i am going to give him a heads up.

I hope the bees are given a “good new home.” But I am not going to support anything that helps the almond industry. They’re almost single-handedly running CA out of water.

Evidently renting bees to almond growers is super stressful on the bees.

I used to be in the water business – just as a rule of thumb, it takes about one gallon of water to produce one almond.

Generally speaking trucking bees around is no good for bees. I dunno that there’s anything especially bad about Almonds in that regard. We do this for most large scale monoculture crops that are bee pollinated, seems like almonds just seem to have a spike in demand at the moment.
