To help offset the costs of developing this AI, they held a banana bread bake sale using the remnants of the unsuccessful attempts.

As all monkeys (but not all apes - or robots - it seems) know, that’s the wrong end of the banana to start peeling from. That’s the end you hold it by.

Banana for scale? And being scaled?
As of now, the robot can peel the banana successfully about 57 percent of the time, which is actually a huge accomplishment. It takes around three minutes per banana
So, the robots arent taking my job anytime soon. Cool.

I’m perhaps less impressed by the robot’s accomplishment than I am by the fact that someone spent over 13 hours peeling bananas to train it.
Awesome. That’s the first step in training a robot to remove my lacy undergarments!
