Good! But I gotta say, if you are running for president, “up and about” is not a great way for headlines to be describing you.

If he shows up so soon after “heart surgery” (as his opponents have called the stent procedure) to participate in a vigorous debate and performs well, this could work out for his image by dispelling the illusion that he’s a frail old man who won’t last out his first term.

Was less than something that should be called “heart surgery.” Stent insertion is a very common, barely invasive procedure.

I have a total of 10 stents. The last batch (7-10) was in July and I was discharged the next day. The only problem I’ve had is the sedatives they give me during the placement makes me a bit amnesiac of the procedure.

I know people want to minimize the seriousness here, but maybe consider this physician’s perspective:

That’s a good thing. Threading that catheter from your leg up into your heart is not comfortable. And they want you to be still.

Gracchus is correct - it is not surgery.

Xeni - - I’m not disapointed, but frustrated. Can you fix the headline?

That’s a feature, not a bug!

I had three stents put in last December. My understanding is that the degree and speed of recovery is going to depend more on how much damage was done by the initial cardiac “event” than on the fact that they put stents in. My heart attack did little damage, so when I went back to work in a week, I had more energy than I had before the procedure. I certainly hope that the same is true for senator Sanders, even though Warren is my first choice.

“up and about”

He got off real easy. No one has yet uttered the forbidden words “heart attack.”

I’ve never heard the insertion of a stent as surgery. I think the title needs corrected. They insert them usually through the leg. It’s not surgery.

He did have an MI, according to the statement by the physicians that treated him, but that’s not nearly as grave as it used to be. Sounds like they got to it early and his other arteries are clear.
