“Citizen Kane is a story about a man who grew from humble beginnings to great wealth and power because he was smart enough to inherit a bunch of money. He’s a great guy because no matter how much wealth he acquires and how many movie stars he bangs he still remembers that material possessions are what matter most.”
Misinformation, it’s a helluva drug.
Lots of competition for that title these days.
And that case is only in regards to ballots received after Election Day. The ballots they’re counting now that have put him in the lead and look like they’ll end up favoring Biden by 100,000+ are all from ballots received up to 7 pm on Election Day. In other words, they don’t even fucking matter at this point.
Um… hooray?
She’s amazing.
Last thoughts on this as Biden prepares to assume the mantle of President-elect tonight in his speech: the best outcome I can expect now is that the GOP immediately tosses Trump under the bus. Trump retaliates by telling his MAGA base to never vote GOP again. Georgia senate elections suffer from lack of Republican voters because the MAGA folks stay away and the regular GOP voters just can’t stomach it any more and we take both seats. With a 50/50 split, Dems run the senate and maybe Biden can get shit done the next two years, starting with a voting rights act that complete revamps the system and bans all the nonsense red states have been tossing up against the wall to suppress votes.
Worst case: we got rid of Trump and congress is deadlocked for two years. And yeah… I can fucking live with that.
Fuck you, Donnie!
That’s why–if they get it to 50/50–the first thing they should do is KILL THE FILIBUSTER, and the second thing they should do is MAKE D.C. A STATE. Then Kamala can get back to helping Joe run the country.
He talks specifically about Rosebud in this clip, and his analysis is that of a middle schooler who’s talking about a homework assignment, trying to impress his teacher.
Personal anecdote about trump voters:
My mother and stepfather as well as my brother in law voted for trump both times. In fact, my parents have tons of trump paraphernalia that one gets after donating so much to trump. They swear up and down that they aren’t racist but love that trump “tells it like it is” and that he’s “draining the swamp”. They love that he “owns the libs” and blah blah blah.
But guess what? When they start drinking together they start using the n-word. They say, “if they can call each other that, why can’t I say it?” They might not be overt racists, but add a little liquid “courage” and the truth comes out.
this. is. amazing.
I think Nate Silver is starting to lose his patience with everyone claiming FiveThirtyEight doesn’t know what they’re doing. You also get the sense that his lack of sleep this week is fraying his nerves a bit.
Granted, their forecasts weren’t all spot-on given the difficult challenges of polling these days but they’ve still been consistently better than almost everyone else in the game.
I thought this as well, but Puerto Rico had statehood on their ballot and it passed. It also has bipartisan support in both houses. DC would require a referendum. But I’d love to see both have statehood and don’t care what order they get in.
Isn’t she? I’d love to see her as president one day!
It passed the last time they voted as well, IIRC.
Of course he thinks the blame falls on a woman. He almost gets close to comprehending the story and then just goes totally sideways. What a pile of trash. Just utter trash.
Kinda-sorta, but this referendum is still uniquely significant. The 2017 vote was boycotted by the opposition party and was not a yes-or-no proposition as this one was.
Are we at the meme sharing stage of the celebration yet? Yes? Good!
