Great pick, strategically. He’s guaranteed to win California now!

If people don’t vote for someone because of their gender and race, then they can go fuck themselves. At some point we have to stop pandering to racist misogynists and letting them control EVERYTHING…

I think at least some of it is a defensive move. Is your opponent attacking you with “law and order!?” Choose a former state Attorney General!

Are younger voters and progressives really going to stay away from the polls in light of Trump. An existential threat to their existence

Idiot sexist pigs who were never voting for Biden in the first place.

I’d hope not, but the only thing that seems to bring them out to the polls is a targetted GOTV effort by the Dems and inspiring and forward-looking candidates. This business-as-usual VP choice only confirms to me that they’re just not courting that vote.

The only other thing that might get young people out to the polls is an immediate threat to their lifestyles, but Cadet Bonespurs will wait until after he wins to implement manadatory national service programmes for people under age 22 or so (exceptions made for the children of the rich and powerful, of course).

Also, obligatory when discussing this subject:

False equivalency right there. There are plenty of progressives, including many right here who supported Sanders during the primaries, who’ll be holding their noses and voting for Biden/Harris because they understand the stakes. BernieBros are a small, privileged and loud-mouthed minority of that group, so obnoxious that they usually get banned not only from this site but from Twitter (for example).

Carlson? C’mon, you know the FBI will dig up his yard sometime between now and 2024.

My ideal scenario is for Rice to be SoS, Biden serve one term, and Harris/Rice in 2024. That’s a damn winner right there.

I don’t think McConnell will lose. In a state this red, it doesn’t matter if he has a 25% approval rating. For republicans here, it is like voting for a guy you don’t like, vs voting for the devil.

What needs to happen with the Presidential elections is a revision to the electoral system, forcing states to give their electoral votes proportionally based on the popular votes. After almost 250 years of pretending we need to become a democracy.

Certain as i can be that anyone won’t vote blue because a woman of color is on the ticket was absolutely never going to vote blue anyway. A few election cycles ago, maybe this was true, but not in the Trump era.

My first thought was “how long will it take until he claims she is ‘nasty’?” He did it twice in his first on-camera appearance after the announcement of her candidacy. I only keep paying attention because I am hoping for a moment when I can say "gee, my exceedingly negative assessment of the Gilded Turd is SO UNFAIR, but instead I just get confirmation that I must learn new uglier words and terms to accurately describe his character.

Straight, white, Christian, Boomer (ugh), Georgia-born and resident male here, and though I’d have preferred Biden-Warren, I’ll be happily voting for Biden-Harris.

I know at least three others guys who also fit the above description who’ll be enthusiastically voting Dem this year. THREE.

So, when are they thinking of having the VP debate(s)?
