I’m not used to the colorful characters of contemporary US politics and I still don’t really understand the importance of this lady. Was she being considered to be Mr. Trump’s vice president? Is she really important in American politics or is she just another one of those that orbit around the MAGA phenomenon?

She’s a younger Republican, so “up and coming” as it were… The expectation was that she’d gain a higher profile outside of her state. But as you note, today to get that position, one must be part of the MAGA incrowd.
