Our current mayor was elected because she is perceived to be on the side of meaningful police reforms. For example, here’s her response to police hiding their identities and/or turning off their cameras:
So yeah, I can imagine that any friend of Lightfoot’s is not going to be held in high esteem by the CPD, but she has the power now, so they’re playing with fire if they think they can bully her or her associates.

WTF? The Amish singing hymns are now hate speech? Why am I thinking some right wing asshats are trying to suppress information about what is happening. (I don’t do Facebook, so I do not even know how that works, btw)
ETA: it occurs to me that they may have objected to being videoed, hence the take down. I have not heard anything to that effect, but some Amish do not approve of being photographed or recorded. Just a thought.
Wow. Scientific American! Not fucking around, calling out the skewed report for the bullshit it was. Things are actually (at least seemingly) changing. In the past these guys would not have touched this sort of thing. Not sure if I dare to have much hope after the last 3 years, but I feel a little flicker. Maybe?
One of my (frankly idiotic and racist) relatives is sharing some YouTube video in which noted token black Trump apologist Candace Owens goes on some diatribe about how George Floyd was a bad dude and isn’t a martyr. I couldn’t bring myself to watch the thing and I won’t link it here. Just so disheartening to see what some people will do for a little notoriety.
