Yes, I’m generally gone for 16 hours, so my nerves are rather jangly when I get back. If I feel I’m compromised in any way, I take a nap on the way back.
An hour delay makes no bit of difference when it comes to driving back through the L.A. basin after 7 am. You’re going to be stuck in traffic regardless of the time of day.
My boss says he doesn’t care what I do - whether I give people rides or whatever - he says just to be safe.

My high school boyfriend had one. It had one window crank. We had to rummage about on the floor for it when we needed to put a window down. Since this was 1990-ish, we didn’t have cell phones but he had a giant CB radio antenna on the roof.

He took me to junior prom in it. We made the valets park it. “Valet parking the Yugo” was a running joke for doing something preposterous that wasn’t worth the money for, well, years longer than that relationship lasted for sure.

I don’t know, but I think he really likes driving it. He bought it on a Friday and took it back to the dealer for its 1500-mile service the following Monday.

Though apparently his commute was 125 miles each day.

I feel it’s worth noting that the dashcam driver is a bit of a jackass as well. He has the right ow way and he stops to let a bus in. Dashcam driver is not a traffic control device and should just keep moving. By letting the bus driver in, who takes several seconds to realize he’s being waved through, traffic is backing up behind dashcam, making it more difficult for the rest of the cars at the stop sign to turn into traffic. The BMW driver has no excuses. The horn was enough. Move on - but not in that nonexistent lane.

I still vividly remember the cover of Consumer Reports where they reviewed the Yugo. It had terrified looking man driving a Yugo as a semi was barreling down the road behind him.

Every so often I’ve searched Google for that cover but have yet to find it.

Nah, that’s ridiculous. Letting in the bus slows down the people behind dashcam by a mere car-length and a half, at most, since traffic is moving fairly slowly. Dashcam guy was just being courteous enough to let the bus through. Since Dashcam’s route through that intersection is uncontrolled, who knows how long the bus would have had to wait for a break (possibly a while, seeing as how the bus has six or seven other vehicles waiting behind it).

Dashcam did the bus a courtesy, which inconvenienced the people behind him not at all. BMW was just being an entitled, impatient dick.

Not one of those cars can turn into traffic until that bus gets out of their way. Unless, of course, they drive like BMW.

Yep. Many trucks I see driving around are not base models like the basic F150 or Rangers that are <$30K (if we are talking about Fords) driving around. Many things with extended cabs, F250 or higher (again, Ford here), dualies, etc. And don’t get started on the fools who modify trucks to roll coal. Although I do put rolling coal and BMW a-holes in the same super category of bad drivers.

Larger point is that many of new trucks out there are nowhere near the base price. Parents and a step-brother own two businesses that actually requires trucks to, you know, move things around. Pretty hard to get base models. Always a special order.

Just for some data from the manufacturers websites. I think many of these prices include current discounts and are the base MSRP for the trim levels. Also note that none of these are for 4X4 models. The price just keeps going up:

4 of 9 Dodge Ram 2500 trim levels start at >$50K
9 of 15 Ford Super Duty trim levels start >$50K

Chevy’s website is harder to line up the models.

In Texas they are easy enough to find. We have situations where dealers in rural areas will order several hundred of each color base model each year and then sell them to dealers in the cities.

Why did even base model pickups get so enormous? Look what’s considered “compact” in 2017:

That Wrangler looks to be the size of a fucking Hummer! THAT IS NOT “COMPACT”
