But they gambled on a quick vaccine rollout before the science was in and the gamble paid off, so now it’s all “world beating vaccination programme” rather than “vaccination programme handled mostly by the organisation which we tried for years to drown in a bathtub and the employees of which we are short-changing in pay rise negotiations right now and based on a desperate gamble that was only necessary because we fucked up so badly that we killed more of our population than any country in Europe bar one.”
And the frustrating thing is, it works. As seen by polling numbers people can only remember the last thing that happened.

Doubt they give a shit to be honest. Anecdotally I’m hearing from relatives in NI that prices are going up. If produce prices go up it mightn’t be a bad thing for farmers.

One can only hope this was at least partially due to stockpiling and unfamiliarity with the paperwork in January and that this gets better going forward, because I’d wager these industries aren’t exactly set up for protracted income loss to begin with.
