They’ll just unilaterally break the law. Not a problem.
Yup. But doing that with the WTO makes potential trade deal partners even more nervous as doing it to the EU…
Yeah, but Brexit is an internal Tory party issue. They’ll all be gone and rich before any bills come due.
Some of them have already fucked off with the cash, and many of them are horsing into the trough as fast as they possibly can.
The little people aren’t a concern. So what if no ships get built in Britain? So what if the fishing industry dies? Those people are workers! They made their rhetorical points and ate their actual cream.
In 2017, a government IT transformation report said the Passport Office’s paper-based case working system would become completely digital. It said checks would be automated where possible and be “supplemented by extensive use of data analytics.”
This must be the cause of the icy chill i just felt creep up my spine. The digital panopticon continues apace…
I’m only liking that because you’re bringing it to our attention and not for that haunted scarecrow threatening to torch the GFA.

Heralding the 130-page report by the Taskforce on Innovation, Growth and Regulatory Reform (TIGRR) [PDF], the report’s authors announced that the “pace of global technological innovation is creating huge new opportunities and challenges for regulation: from AI to space, genetics to autonomous vehicles.”
The paper talked about stripping out “unnecessary red tape”, introducing rules that are less “onerous” for people and organisations, and, instead, creating a new regulatory environment designed to promote “growth and innovation” which it claimed had been “stifled” by GDPR (the General Data Protection Regulation).

That’s nice. All my UK suppliers are on notice that if they don’t conform to GDPR they don’t have our business and we have the right to sue.
No 10 Downing Street - the home of the UK Prime Minister - is looking to hire a big cheese at the Brexit Opportunities Unit to bring a fresh new oomph and zing to Whitehall.
The 17-page job spec (downloadable here) – with perks including hybrid working, childcare benefits, a generous pension, and a loan to buy a bike – is brief.
In a nutshell, it’s this: “The Director, Brexit Opportunities Unit is a high-profile role. It needs someone who can change existing thinking, working across all government departments, developing partnerships with senior stakeholders, including the Prime Minister, to ensure ministerial priorities are met.”

It’s too bad Johnson himself can’t do the job while concurrently serving as PM. It’s just perfect for him! /s
UK set for ‘adequacy’ status on data sharing with EU, but it all depends on how much post-Brexit law diverges
The European Union has formally voted for proposals to give the UK “adequate” status in its data protection laws, allowing data sharing to continue in the post-Brexit world.
But the move could prove temporary if the UK were to move too far from the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in its ambition to be a global tech juggernaut.
