Hopefully that is Rupert playing mind games until he decides who the Tories should choose.

Well obviously there MUST be some rules: the PM actually resigned. Our previous POTUS broke several laws and fucked up our foreign relations and trade policy for decades to come, and yet he still insists that he’s President.

Wow. There was a time not that long ago when I thought the UK looked quite reasonable compared to the US, in terms of politics. Not anymore.

What is with the music behind that news reader? I’m also put off by his strident manner of speaking. Maybe this is considered good entertainment in the UK but it seems intolerable.

That’s the introduction music playing-

It’s part of the standard intro format for ITV news at ten, the channel’s flagship news programme.
You start with the clock chime-, and a cold open onto the newscaster summarising the headlines.
The music is kept at a low level throughout the newscaster’s intro. They have about 1 minute to summarise the main stories of the day before the music rises and they go into the main title sequence.

This one was especially strange, as we had a single story of the day that was very difficult to fit into that brief opening.

EDIT- Here’s a full intro sequence from a more normal evening of news:

God no, it’s far worse than that

Ok, one day later and I am more confused about what happened yesterday.

It was about several hundred MPs, fearful of losing their jobs, telling the person responsible that she should leave.

On top of that, the events of the day were so absurd that simply reading the script in the usual newsreader voice was enough to turn the real news show into The Day Today.
