California Governor Gavin Newsom issued an emergency order making hemp-based THC in the state.

It seems like there’s a key word missing from this sentence.

Newsom has been trying to position himself as a “centrist” for years because he’s had his eye on the White House and thinks that embracing horrible right-wing policies alongside progressive ones is his ticket to national appeal. Instead he’s just alienating everyone and making the state worse. Maybe we’ll luck out and he’ll go away after he terms out in 2027.

I don’t understand why there is a market for hemp-derived THC/CBD products in states where cannabis is already legal. Are they cheaper because they are evading the cannabis taxes?

the now banned products weren’t strong enough to be regulated, but they still contain usefully entertaining amounts of THC.

I suppose it’s akin to treating low alcohol beer as ordinary soda, and then being somewhat surprised when it becomes popular.

That’s true about some of the hemp derived products, but not all. I live in a state where you can only legally buy hemp products and any product labeled THCa isn’t much different that the real thing because, while inert itself, THCa converts to regular THC when heat is applied.
