Canadian parents who wanted to raise their 8 kids with "traditional values" moved to Russia. Wife now says, "I'm ready to jump on a plane and get out of here."

What do you want to bet the people who emigrated to a foreign country, don’t speak the language, and have no money really didn’t like it when people who have no money and don’t speak the language immigrated to their (former) country?

To be fair, this could happen in many countries. We moved to Spain a decade ago and they also wanted justification for large bank deposits. The banks are just trying to keep ahead of money launderers.

Having said that, what kind of moron moves to a different country without researching banking regulations, laws around buying land, or even how important it would be to know the local language in a small town?

Maximally ironic, considering how much of Russian identity has historically been about not being part of the West, however defined - Latin Christianity, Enlightenment, West European democracies…

Not really as white supremacy has always been a moving targets in terms of who is considered “white”… It used to be that the Irish, Italians, and Jews were not “white” (along with Slavic people). Now they are. It’s because it’s a social construct, not a biological fact of nature. The meaning changes in order to prop up the ideology. And if Putin’s Russia and Orban’s Hungary are going to fight the things that these assholes hate (“woke” culture, race mixing, anything not properly Christian, etc), then the western white supremacists will gladly throw their lot in with them. It’s about “winning” by destroying those they hate, not about reality.
