He’s a conservative, so I wouldn’t put the whole “shoot them all, let God sort them out” mindset past him. But I think he’s just trying to minimize the actions of the insurrectionists, like all the other craven douches on the right. And if he can also activate the weirdo conspiracist fringe, so much the better.

I think he’s trying to say there were no federal agents on the 9/11 planes, because they were all warned off. Maybe.

Modern politics can be a sad soap opera to follow; the guy is getting massive points for simply Not being another drone.
A lottery system would choose better than many of our recent elections have, which so many times more and more seems like a battle of “I hate candidate ____ so much I’ll vote for anything against them”.
