You’re STILL OFF TOPIC; now about being off topic.
As much as I think the whole royals thing is … silly… it brings attention to calcified racism. That attention could result in potential positive change.
That’s true, but where does Charlie Hebdo fit into that? The Charlie Hebdo cover is, in and of itself, racist, and so I don’t think it’s helping here.
Indeed, by focusing attention away from George Floyd and onto the royals, one could say that the cover itself is off-topic in the same way.
If the royal family is racist, isn’t the cartoon pointing that out? Or, is it going too far and heaping more racism on top of pointing out the racism?
My thinking is since a lot of people lionize the royals, they’d take the state of racism today more seriously since it’s coming from a previously (or currently) respected set of idols?
The cartoon is pointing that out, but it is doing so in a way that is not likely to convince anyone who doesn’t already know that the royal family is racist, while making a farce of the tragic murder of George Floyd to make that point about the royals, thereby turning the conversation back to the royals and away from the more pressing matter of calcified racism. The people who lionize the royals are not going to take this seriously and the people who take racism seriously are compelled to point out that Charlie Hebdo is contributing to racism with this poor taste caricature.
All right – my bad, then.
When in doubt, just listen to Melizmatic and Mindysan33. They know what they’re talking about.
For sure! They’re amazing!
