Of all the plot holes in that cartoon this was hardly the widest
You wanna talk plot holes in GitS we have the geopolitics of two world wars, one of which nuclear, and the fact that America even exists after that at all, seeing as the Japanese Miracle wasnโt deployed there until afterward.
Also the idea (from the Standalone complex series) that Salami Slicing would be a valid and profitable way to make money. Salami slicing only worked because hard currency didnโt have the resolution of the market transactions conducted via digital representation. By the time GitS happens there is no more hard currency.
Honestly I never saw the sequel cartoons. I saw the first one in the US in the early 90s and promptly forgot it till it became an Internet thing decades later.
However salami slicing could work in a cashless system by taking advantage of different rounding levels at different points of the end to end systems.
I suppose. And I also highly recommend the TV series. Itโs a lot more accessible than the original 1997 movie, and has more intelligible philosophy. Perhaps not great philosophy, but more intelligible.
Thanks but Iโll pass. 18+ years of living in Japan has helped me develop a deep loathing of domestic media especially this kind of stuff. The local fans are the unwashed mouth breathers that cause me to dread going to akihabara.
Just because I lose my ability to concentrate and start sweating profusely when the site goes into read-only mode doesnโt mean Iโm some kind of addict!
You canโt be addicted to whatโs legally prescribed to you!
Youโre not my dad!
Someone please help me.
If somethingโs cool, try it. I like this being a guinea pig for discourse, with the caveat that we are ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ and not a petri dish for the internet commentariatโs naked id.
