This, more than anything else, is what’s wrong with law enforcement.
Individual police officers will never be perfect, they are human. But the system that they are in should be proactively working to improve their behavior, to prevent incidents, and to mitigate harm. When the system acts as an enabler for bad behavior, it normalizes that behavior, it breaks the trust of the public, and it denigrates the institution of law enforcement.
