Rest in Power, Queen.
I literally just heard her on the radio last week.
A true legend.
And here is NPRs obit…
Such a powerful, positive performer - Ms. Tyson will be truly missed. Here’s an obituary from The Root:
She was on PBS last week or the week before, “How it Feels to be Free”, about Black women artists who also made activism part of their lives.
And in a coincidence, maybe, “Sounder” is on TCM on Sunday at 8pm (I don’t know if that’s eastern, or across the board).
Never ever saw here once not reach into you and grab you with her performance[s]. One of a kind is an under statement, rest in power good human.
What an exceptionally lovely lady. sniff
Goddess.
I’m going to siccing my DVR on airings of “Sounder” (saw in the theater as a kid!) and “The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman.”
On one hand, her passing is a loss to the world. That being said 96 is a helluva run. I’m happy that we had her for so long. She lived her life with exceptional talent, grace and dignity.
