Citizen pulls over Texas State Trooper for speeding

Someone working for the very same site the man in this story is, even.

But he didn’t. He apologized. Maybe he only did so because of the camera, maybe he would have otherwise. But this is a cop, and a citizen, I want in my city.

America (and even the People’s Republic of Austin) still have police accountability and conduct problems. This doesn’t make that go away in any way. But it’s nice to spot a unicorn and know they can exist.

Chasing the officer was dumb and unsafe. I applaud his courage, however. If you want to hold your police accountable, keep the non-emergency number to State, County and City handy. Note the plate number or car number, and call it in. If we all do it, they will either be too busy answering the phone, or will stop driving like assholes.

Of course, you’ll want a burner phone if you plan to do this regularly, but with stingrays, they’ll still find you, and there is a near 100% chance they’ll be able to ticket you for something.
