Civil rights questions on MLK day in 2017

Is there a coherent anti-racism movement in America? Even if ‘blacks’ have achieved legal parity with ‘whites’, why hasn’t a leader or movement emerged to deal with the residual economic and institutional violence that still preys on and thrives against ‘blacks’ (has BLM made any inroads)? Why do so many ‘whites’ see the race problem as solved when it is obviously not by any meaningful metric?

Asking because it’s only 7:00am on MLK day and I’ve already heard three boomer-aged white men bemoan today as ‘nigger day’.

Is it inappropriate to hope that people take today to remember and talk about Malcolm too (since he’s def not getting a holiday anytime soon but deserves one)?

His autobiography is life changing.
