I wonder why they opted for the Civ2-style isometric graphics instead of the simpler (but probably easier and clearer to see) top-down tile-based graphics that were in Civ1


8 Bit Civilizations (working title) has understandably been reduced in scope from the original PC and Amiga versions. For example, the tech tree is only six steps long, and Ramesses the Great is a midget.
