the goal of capitalism seems to be: capture an audience and force them to pay a tax for their existence.
whether that’s credit card transaction fees that people don’t even realize they’re paying, advertising driven content so people don’t even realize they’re paying, student debt and medical bills that last a lifetime, and treatments that almost but never quite cure your disease
bonus points for people like the sacklers who manage to get you addicted to their drugs, and then charge you for your recovery
11% of the population has been vaccinited once and only 1.56% are fully vaccinited. About 0,014% of Finnish population (about 5 536 146) have died of COVID-19.
I had hoped for BioNTech, the company actually developing the vaccine, to play a moderating role. It is their IP, and while I usually am very critical of companies enforcing their IP rights, I had hoped that this would be a force against greed here.
I’ll wait and see it play out, because whining about it makes me just sad and angry. Also, as I am well aware, IDKS about the facts behind those big pharma greed stories.
Thank you for posting the data I could have found myself. I really, really appreciate that. Limited resources, short attention span, pandemic overwhelmedness (for the lack of a proper term).
This is and acutely pressing issue, for me personally.
Right now, I am welling up because of decisions which have to be made, with much information lacking, and much confusing info re:kids.
ETA: can’t read this, because Paywall and I exeeded my limits (and for some reason my VPN is dead), but I think this might - just might - give an idea about the confusion in Germany regarding schools.
The 1990s and 2000s just called and they called out your bullshit. The US was actively engaged in hostile actions against Russia for decades most often through proxies in Europe. Often Nazi proxies.
The excerpt above makes US hypocrisy hilariously apparent. States offering vaccines or medical assistance are “ill intentioned” yet the US, intervening to stop both those, is somehow not?
Yeah, I was just doing a class yesterday examining media responses to government actions on Covid in different countries and we were looking at an Australian article saying the prime minister made the ministers “wear thongs” for a barbecue meeting. As English wasn’t the first language of many I felt I had to intervene and point out Aussies talk crazy.
