Some local pastors proposed a national fast day against the virus last year. The death toll has jumped.

This week they did another fast …

York Region dropped the bar down to 65.

The following individuals are now eligible to book an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine:

  • York Region residents 65 years of age and older (born in 1956 or earlier)
  • Highest, Very High and High Priority Health Care Workers who live OR work in York Region
  • Staff, essential caregivers and any residents that have not yet received a first dose in long-term care homes, high-risk retirement homes and First Nations elder care homes
  • Alternative level of care patients in hospitals who have a confirmed admission to a long-term care home, retirement home or other congregate care home for seniors
  • Staff, residents and caregivers in retirement homes and other congregate care settings for seniors
  • Indigenous adults and adult members of their households
  • Adult recipients of chronic home care services who live in York Region (appropriate documentation, such as letter from Ontario Health Team/Central LHIN, will be required)
  • Faith leaders who live or work in York Region AND provide end of life care, care of the deceased, care of those who are unwell or provides pastoral services in vulnerable settings

I wonder when they’re planning to shift to Phase 2? I can’t complain that they’re running down the age groups, but at some point (after me!) they’re going to have to pivot to people in higher risk work environments.

We’re at 16+ statewide. I wonder if there’s a significant difference in vaccination percentages, though.

Answer: no.

Beckers Hospital Review

_26. New York
Number of people fully vaccinated: 3,362,056
Population: 19,336,776
Percentage of population fully vaccinated: 17.39

_31. Arizona
Number of people fully vaccinated: 1,267,484
Population: 7,421,401
Percentage of population fully vaccinated: 17.08

I’m guessing AZ has lots of availability because its uptake in older populations had been poorer.

This isn’t great:

Yes, the benefits certainly seem to outweigh the risks for most people, but still, it would be nice if so much of the world wasn’t so reliant on the AstraZenica vaccine in particular. Based on the current data it certainly seems like the least ideal out of the top 4 vaccines being used in Western countries right now.

They’re announcing April 19th as the target date for allowing anyone 16+ to get an appointment in the “collar counties” around Philadelphia. Hopefully, nothing will cause them to push that date forward. :crossed_fingers:t4:

Fuck Palantir.

The fight goes on.

Masha, I’m sorry, girl, but you don’t understand this thing. Fights like this aren’t fights you win, they’re fights you fight . If we curb the Oakland PD and out Zyz, they’re not all going to take up Buddhism and move to a damn ashram. They’re going to hang around like a bad smell, like Voldemort reassembling his power from the back of some poor asshole’s head, until they can come back for more. This isn’t a thing you do, it’s a thing you commit yourself to. It’s a thing I commit myself to.

Small population, but exceedingly difficult terrain to traverse to get to everyone.

They were putting in their first national road and their first national electrical supply in the mid-to-late 1980’s.

This is excellent news!

In line for my second dose. My husband settled for an appt 2.5 hours away. After clicking on websites most of the day, I found him one 20 min away. He will have his first today. We discussed things last night- we won’t be changing our behavior much. We might visit some people who are also vaccinated and still taking precautions, since our kid is unvaccinated.

Oh for fuck’s sake.

These entitled pricks are saying 1. District requiring masks is somehow unconstitutional bc governor revoked state wide mask mandate. Even tho guidance from said governor is that districts get to make their own choice. 2. being told to do virtual school if they refuse to wear masks is a form of separate but not equal schooling, citing Brown v. Board of Education. No. That is just the consequences of falling to follow the rules.

The right wing press in the UK has run stories claiming that Pfizer is worse for clots. I can’t track them back to any actual scientific report, and I think they’re BS, so I’m not going to link to anything.
